How to idenitfy a real name brand turbo?

Default How to idenitfy a real name brand turbo?

well there is a guy in a local forum and he is selling a T3/T4 turbo - brand new rebuild 0 miles, said it has turbonetics internals. .53 AR compressor side .60 exhaust for $275...so my question how so i tell if it is a real turbonetics turbo and not some ssautocrome junk...he didnt have any pics to show me but he was talking about meeting up so i can look at it...i just dont want to buy a pos turbo that will f-up my car...if it is a pos turbo i rather just buy one from blaast for $550...so can any body help me out?

look at the housings if its got a brand name stamp on it. the turbonetic internals is probly a bunch of crap and he's trying to sell you a ssac. but it wouldnt hurt to check it out.

well i just got done talking with him again and i asked if it was a real turbonetics turbo but he replies with it has turbonetics internals... so im like wtf so what type of shell is it...he didnt know he said he bought it off a guy in tampa...so i might just pass and keep looking for another one to pick up...thanks for the help.....

Many chinese will have the turbonetics logo on the turbine housing so be careful.
Turbonetics usually have a rectangle on the compressor housing with a sticker, sometimes without or the Turbonetics logo.

I dunno what "turbonetics" internals are also.
I've heard of ching chang turbos running "garrett" internals, but never bothered to confirm.. When I see photos of split compressor covers, why bother..
Above $250, he better have a receipt for that turbo.. Otherwise forget it.
