How do i use SS braided line on my oil return without the threading thing
ok my turbo has the oil return flange with a 1/2" tube sticking out, no threads... but i heard BAD BAD things about rubber hoses so no way.. i'm going to get the high quality -10 an SS braided things...
so how can it work with my oil return tube thing, if i get the line, wont' i need to threaded in some NPT Or AN fitting'?
going to the pan is ok, just get some fittings and weld it on so i can screw it to NPT or whatever.. but how do i do it on the other end?

You can get little adapters that are threaded for that or you can just run a tap through yours.

can you explain more??
ok here is what i want to do:
https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...I_cooling.html
see the oil return.. that flange with a tube is like what i have... i'm going to do almost exactly, with the bulkhead fitting and nut... but if i get a SS braided with -AN ends, how do i fit it on the TUBE part on my turbo..
explain your method...

Ghetto but efective:
Instead of soldering a brass insert, I welded a little tube on the oil pan, same diameter as the tube coming out of turbo.......just bought some SS braided hose, cut it to lenght, used some electrical tape on the edges (so the braiding looks neater after cutting) and installed it using hose clamps......looks good, works good, and since my turbo sits quite low, allows me to have a long curve so the hose does not kink........since no high pressure is involved, it does not leak......

You don't. You'd remove the tube altogether. You can then either tap the housing where the tube was or get one of those adapters and use it in place of it. So you AN line will screw directly into the housing or into the adapter depending on which way you go.
Take the tube off and look at the opening. You'll understand a little better.

hmm not bad i understand!
i rather get the adapter than tapping my housing.. don't like metal shavings inside my center section!!
ok so where can i get a -10an adapter.. is it possible to cut off the "TUBE" part and retain the flange and weld on a male or female -10an fitting?
maybe a longer fitting or cut in half a bulkhead so i have room to weld?
first, where to get such an adapter?

I provided a link to one in my first post. Click on "little adapters"
I supposed you could cut and weld one like you said, but I'd just buy one and save the headache.

I don't know how the connection is at your turbo, but for the oil pan, just buy what's caled a bulkhead. You can get them in AN 3-4-6-8-10-12
That way there is no welding and you are already set up to connect the SS hose to it. All you would need is a straight or 45 degree AN-10 fitting. for the turbo you can buy NPT to AN fittings. I just replumbed my fuel system with SS braided hose and EARL's aluminum fittings.

should i use male or female.. looks kinda big, if the size is 10 on the inside, the outside flange part looks huge..

Re:How do i use SS braided line on my oil return without the threading thing
Well I have to share a little story. I spent $$$$$$ on my lines and fittings. And when it got down to it the -10an line and the fittings you could not get the line hooked think Im kidding? IM NOT. this was a ZC with a t25 and using a -10an bulkhead and a 1/2 to -10an 45. I tried 90's and all combinations it just was way too close then again you could maybe bump it further from the turbo.
