Sweet! Right down to the part numbers.

I wonder if much of the GT30+ turbos are going on OEM vehicles. Most of the cars are getting GT2x

not aware of any gt30X factory cars and for the GT-"R" cars, in the last few months, mazda was the first to ever use a gt bb on a factory car. All the other GT2X factory cars are using non BB turbos like the saab GT17.
nissan was using ball bearings on the skyline way back but that model of garrett BB is not GT technology and they have to be replaced by the GT ones when they fail.

single turbo:
So .... ~$500 for 1 big turbo but ~$400 for a 46mm TiAL ... don't turbo diesel trucks run large internally gated turbos? Could we use that to get around the huge TiAL exspense?

If you wanna stay cheaper, I'd recommend staying twin turbo, it's just more simple because the framework is already there for you. It sounds like for the goals you speak of, you'd be well suited with EvoIII 16g's. You'll definately need a front mount. If you wanna go cheap, you can just gut the precats and not have to buy O2 housing/precat eliminators (not sure if this will make 600 awhp though).

The only options people really use for engine management on a large scale is AEM EMS or ARC-2, look into it. ARC-2 isn't the BEST, but Matt Monett uses it, and he just hit 9's on a stock bottom end.

And if you actually want to do it as cheap as possible, open your mind up to using nitrous, because it'll be a lot easier. I've heard of somebody who I believe ran an 11.7 on the stock 9b's (------ tiny) with nitrous.

If you have any 3S specific questions, let me know, and I'll try to find out for you, I have a tt stealth (i'm selling), but I do a lot of research on them.

You kinda lost me on the pre cat thing, we were planning probably 1 turbo with 4" DP and exhaust... are you saying we can't just weld in 02 bungs, we need to use housings Sorry...I am all about shutting the 02 off with UD :1
Do you know what this ARC-2 runs price wise?
Any input on the most bang for the buck clutch?
I think we're gonna try and keep nitrous out of the plan for now but we'll explore that option if we can't get 11s after this build.

so useable junk yard turbo(s) and injectors would be sweet ...

Thats because the Supra's bottom end can handle almost 1000 HP stock and theres so much more aftermarket for it. And as for a big and nice turbo, research Holset.

HEY these are chinese knock off turbos!!! i can tell right away from the plastic cover on the t3 flange, the shapes of the housings that are definitely not garrett's as well as the unreal pricing!


You dont plan on installing such chinese knock offs on that car do you

No right now it's lookin like we're gonna be searchin for a turbo off a turbo diesel ford.Didn't notice that those were knock offs either.

I thought about that ... usually HX35 or HY35... HX is bigger I think but is it large enough for a single to support this build?


So Matt (the owner) was reading me a budget build he found online earlier ... I'll post up the link when he emails it to me... but supposedly this guy did a build consisting mainly of:
Aeromotive fuel pump
Aeromotive FPR
custom lines
5XX cc injectors from a ford explorer (also listed other peak and hold injectors that could be used)
an internally gated turbo off a 7.3L Ford turbo diesel
big FMIC (no specifics)
stock BOVs
Self ported heads with lash adjuster shims and valve springs from some other vehicle (not concerned as we don't plan to ---- with the heads)
and AEM fuel management
made 7xx awhp
then switched to a $2600 Garrett turbo and did somthin like 850 ...

Been reading about megasquirt some and it looks like it'll work.

I don't know much about those heads, but with pushing all that air thru there you might hit a brick wall. You might have to port them.
