Hondata s200b vs AEM EMS --- likes and dislikes
 

Trying to decide between the two of them. I have seen the AEM EMS in several cars but I havent experimented much with the Hondata s200b. Ive heard great things about them both so please help me decide betwwen the two by listing the good vs the bad of both stand alone systems.

Also, what about the new Neptune system? Isnt it supposed to be a very good option also? When will it be available???

Pushing for 600whp on race gas and 400whp on pump in a 94 civic eg hatch!!!

Car is running N/A during breakin period. Just got it running last wednesday and all my piston rings have seated good. Compression tested 165psi on all cylinders. I believe its doing pretty good so far.


Which EMS would be the best for my application...thanks for the help!!!!

I think AEM's traction cotrol would be sweet for a street car, But ive never used any type of EM to say whats better.

Also I call BS untill we see some pics of all that ----, thats like $10,000 of parts :o .

Neptune is available now and I think its a great option for people who don't know how to tune or are going to have somebody else tune their car for them.

I would agree with him. However, I have an acquantince who was running Hondata s200b on his 94 Civic, and he said he'd never use anything else. But I would ask around (as you are), get different opinions and go from there.

Did he ever run Uberdata? I've seen plenty of people sell their Hondata and start using Uberdata. I bet if you compared the cost and features he would kick his own ass for waisting all that money.

That would be very helpful with the power he is planning on making. I'm not sure exactly what extra features AEM has over Hondata/Uberdata, but they might be very useful in this case.

Also I noticed your blocked is bored to 85mm. I thought 84mm was about as far as you wanted to go with a sleeved block when boosting? That's what "earl" says in this thread about benson sleeves anyways... http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=565375&page=1

you know what...nevermind. i could post pics of the engine and car but i dont have the time. i work two jobs (air force and autozone 70+ hrs a week) in order to get this car up and running. i do NOT dream...i ------- make ---- happen when i want it bad enough! i built the engine myself and im gathering the rest of the parts slowly so i know most my ----. all i have really left to decide on is my ems and the turbo...thats it. the rest of the parts i have in hand already. i work hard for my money and i would expect everyone on here should respect that at least.

has anyone heard of cortney green's eg hatch out of salt lake city utah running low 10's??? he is the one tuning my car and he says 600whp would be a breeze, so i believe him more than ANYONE on this forum anyday. we have been discusing a LOT the past few weeks and he has helped me a lot. i am waiting on him to tune a car(civic hatch with basically the same setup as me) down in sacramento california before i make my decision on the turbo. it is running a gt4067 custom spec turbo and if it puts down good #'s then i am going to buy one as well. i am worried about lag vs horsepower. i want to hit full boost around 5000 rpm but make mad mid-high end power.

anyways, thats what forums are for is to help people out isnt it!?!? i just wanted to point out that this isnt a dream...it is TRUE! the motor is in the break in period running n/a while lovefab is building the manifold right now as we speak. cody is waiting on the 44mm flange thats getting drop shipped to him and then the sst manifold should be finished.

as far as the ems goes...i think i want to get the aem ems because i want to be able to make adjustments in the car by just using my laptop. no hassle with burning chips and ----. i have already used uberdata some...actually yesterday. we chipped my p28 ecu with a gsr base map so my motor wouldnt run lean until i got my standalone.

i WILL post pics of the turbo and manifold when i get them if you still dont believe me. it might be another month or so but it will be complete before next spring when the new track season opens!!! ;)

so your from idaho? im from utah and i've heard of courtney green running impressing times with his hatch. anyways, choosing whether to go with aem, hondata, or whatever really depends on your budget. most people here use uberdata because its free and it works. i've used uberdata before and its simple to learn. i dont know ---- about aem ems but i know that lots of people use hondata and are very pleased with their results. i rather save money, lots and lots of money and go with uberdata.

i dont htink turboedit or uberdata would be the best for 600hp. i finally got a chance with turboedit, and its not really the best. now im looking into hondata. i hear nothing but good things so it cant be bad

For the price uber is a great deal. But if you have plenty of money and a good tuner in your area the aem is the way to go cant beat a standalone.

cortney is #8. and you might recognize #1. jason owns phantom motorsports in slc and thats where my civic is going to get tuned. cortney and jason are good friends and cortney does alot of tuning there for jason. and just for the books...cortney ran a 10.015 @ 143 just a couple of weeks ago so thats his best et so far.

I'm sorry but if your tuner is so good, tell his ass to tune that uber map, be just as good off as some chump who paid for hondata, and call it a day.

-Dart 2.2 LT tall block 85mm bore
Eagle crank with JE 9:1 pistons on eagle rods from Dynoflo in Nevada
-Type r water pump, Oil pump from Endyn
-GSR head with Skunk2 stage 2 cams,gears,valves,springs retainers The head was ported and polish by me
-Skunk2 intake with 68mm Holley
-rc440 injectors
-koyo radiator
This was installed two weeks ago working now on the HMT waiting for the manifold have the t3/to4e and all the other stuff. My previous set up that I still have was B16 with b20 84.5mm and all the goodies.

Unless you don't have the first fucken clue about managemnet (which would be fine) your going to have someone else tune your car, and you still list PLX 300 WIDEBAND in your setup. hahahaha. If you don't know what program you wanna run, or don't know how to tune it, what the ---- are you gonna do about all those numbers flashing at you from the PLX? The car would be tuned already by the baddest dude in the world, so what would you need that for? lol.
