hondata IM gasket - worth it?

Re: hondata IM gasket - worth it?
I think they are worth it for $35 or so, especially if you have to replace the gasket anyway. It might not make more power, but cooler air is better and might help make it less likely to pre detonate from the crazy heat and compression from the forced air. Maybe not. ?

Re: hondata IM gasket - worth it?
i was thinking about it, and maybe its not such a good way to reduce intake temps, just a thought, but maybe the intake manifold acting as a sort of heat-sink for the head is more helpful then harmful

Re: hondata IM gasket - worth it?
read foo i said "maybe its not the best way to lower intake temps" i didnt say "---- lowering intake temps" im just saying your head probly transfers a good amount of heat to your intake manifold, which hanges way off the motor, just like a heatsink of an amp or CPU, maybe you lower the temp of the air but your head will be way hotter.
thats all.
thats all.

Re: hondata IM gasket - worth it?
I've become skeptical as to the power increase that companies claim. Here's why. Think about the total amount of air that comes through the manifold. Think about how quickly it passes through, and think about how much heat can be transferred to the air in such a short amount of time.
The longevity of the gasket, however, makes for a very usable product. As chris brought up, no more having to scrape intake mani gaskets off the head OR the manifold, and never having to pay for another intake gasket again is an added bonus.
Time(scrape gaskets off head and mani)=money; Save time, save money.

anyone used those metal ones from felpro? i dont think you would have to scrap those off, but i do worry about them getting pieces of metal into my motor cause they seem to flake pieces off when your installing them
