I hate to add to what's already been said; actually, ---- no I don't.
When I first joined this site I lurked for along time, using the http://search button, looking at the turbo projects link, browsing for hours and hours at a time at different peoples setups as well as looking at the turbo tech information on Garrett's website. No reason why if you have any questions about what to do you can't do the same.

Re: Homemade turbo
The "trick" to making a cheap hmt kit.
Troll the f/s adds constantly and see if you can lowball 5-50 bucks lower than what the price they're giving. Sometimes you get told to ---- off, sometimes if the person is in a bind and aren't getting a bite you scoop up a good deal.
Sometimes you will see people selling kits for $300-500. Some even come with injectors, chipped ecu and possibly a wideband.
You just have to be patient and watch like a hawk.
Like op's said, junkyards, craigslist (people WILL try to ---- you on craigslist and i dont mean the personals either), honda tech's f/s.......local honda scene website.
BE PATIENT and TAKE YOUR TIME LOOKING.
You rush ---- and buy out of impulse and you're going to be very sorry in the long run.

Re: Homemade turbo
having lots of tools to do ---- helps too, like a welder, bandsaw, air tools, clamps and ---- for welding ext.
I built my first kit for probably around $400 total. Buying all necessary pieces. The junkyard is your friend.

Re: Homemade turbo
my first set up was prob close to 1200 or so.. But now i can throw kits together for 50$ in misc bull ----.. have doubles of most everything... dont cheep out... get a ecu so you tune that bitch.. everything else can be had for cheap, and you can learn to do it.. welding isnt hard... well welding good enough to have my ---- run..
Id say for $600 i could put a kit together for a random person, and give it a street tune...

Re: Homemade turbo
My total came out around $1200 and thats everything. Turbo, manifold, intercooler and piping, chipped ECU, injectors, tune, wideband, oil adapters, ect. Now I'm rebuilding the motor and I've lost count of it all it was starting the hurt, So I stopped counting.
