Homemade oil restrictor writeup
 

So I keep ------- up my turbos because of improper oil pressure. my warranty finally ran out on me. here is what I did after precision told me this is my last time they will replace my turbo because of user error.

I bought one of these

(garbage) cost $12+sh wasted. scrap metal. it leak no matter what, so I tighten it till it cracked.

tools I used:

parts I use:
fitting T used to hold the gauge fitting in place.
autometer or similar 1/8 gauge fitting.

thread the gauge fiitting in the T fitting so its loose fit inside,
use the small hacksaw to cut the gauge fitting in half,
use vise grip to hold the fitting in place ( I dont have a bench vise)

use the file to cut a slot accross the top, so I screw driver can fit in it. notice I use some machinist files.

use the 3 angle file or the flat file to file it flush with the T fitting.
file it until you can easily thread the piece of fitting all the way inside the T without any effort, use the tiny cutter file to clean up the theads. make sure to use some carb cleaner to cleam up the brass shavings.

use a flat tip screwdriver to thread it in the turbo oil oil inlet port like so all the way down so you have enough room for the oil fitting:

now you can connect your oil inlet line and boost worry free of screwing up your turbo seals. (sticky)?

im all in for hacking and rigging..... but why not just use the correct fitting?

If it was easy to come by in my location I would.
as you saw in my post I bought a fitting which cost a lot, and it did not work like its supposed, to.

if you see this restrictor I just made you would think it came standard with the turbo. plus it easily removeable.

I would have to wait for another month to get the "correct fitting" .

Plus cheapasses like me who have fittings and such laying around would rather make one than spend 12 bucks on one. ;D

Or.........

Get a compression dome style fitting, the ones used for both oil brake and can be foudn at any hardware store

They come with a dome on the top where the cup will seal against, they come with a .085" diamter hole usually, all you have to do is take your pretty little hammer and bash the top of the fitting where it is domed, hit it gently until you have a very small hole, or what I did, simply hit it I think 4 times and the hole is completely shut, then redriled my own .016" hole

I have a stealthmode restrictor, thats why my turbo got screwed up, I turned off the pressure by accident.

I live in Germany nothing can be found here. dont you think I would get one if I could. I order something, it takes weeks to get here, then it dont work. plus they charge international to APO.

this is great, an it did not cost a dime, and only took about 30 minutes to make

fill the fitting with weld bead and drill small hole through center.............done ;)

if I had a welder that could do that.
my boy did his like that but he had someone weld it for him.

I think my write up is sticky material, I think its a great idea.
