WIll a kit pass california smog regulation tests? I know it varies on your setup, but is there anyone here who has passed or had trouble passing with a paricular setup. I know they are pretty strict on that stuff,and I dont want to do anything to my car that will make it not pass.

 

regardless of whether you can tune your car to pass the sniffer test, you will fail the visual unless you know somebody or the person who does your smog is cool. My homeboy in san diego ------- failed his smog because he had an aem intake. wtf!!! i guess it has to have a "carb" sticker on it or some ----, otherwise you are pretty much fucked. so yeah, if you put a custom turbo kit you will fail smog, even if you have tuned you car to have the cleanest emissions.

so no one in the state of california can even have an intake on their car? Thats rediculous. That cant be right, there is a huge turner market and scene out there. The reason I ask is because I am moving out there from the right coast in 5 months. Anyone else have any experience with CARB certication and smog tests

where in cali are you...? i passed my visuals with my edel brok and a half kit but i got a hook up at the place got it done at.....let me know

 

I will be living just south of san francisco. With the visual test can you just not have a turbo even if the sniffer test checks out and all?

 

You can have an aem intake or a dc header and pass visual. Basically, if it has a CARB EO# on it, which the expensive ---- usually does. If you have a apc intake with an aem filter, your done. Thats how stupid this state is. Maybe you should just stay on the right coast.
