HELP: Idling Problem

Re:HELP: Idling Problem
Don't know if this'll help but sometimes you have to bleed your coolant system....An air bubble or pocket can affect the Idle control valve. Especially if you're using those coolant lines to cool turbo bearings...

Re:HELP: Idling Problem
have u tried adjusting the idle screw? if not.. here's how...
1. Warm up car COMPLETELY, go for a drive, cooling fan MUST come on.
2. Turn engine off.
3. Disconnect the 2pin connector at the back of the intake manifold that connects to the EACV (AKA iacv) (idle air control valve) Might be more wires since its obd2.
4. Start car, ignore check engine light that will turn on.
5. Look at your tach for idle speed. should be 650rpm +/-50rpm.
6. to adjust idle speed, with car still running, turn the idle adjustment screw, which is located on the TB among all the vac hoses. It's a flat head screw. turn it clockwise to lower idle.
7. re-cheeck idle speed, is it within spec now?
8. no, keep adjusting. yes? turn off engine and re-connect the iacv 2pin connector.
9. Open the underhood fuse box and remove hazard fuse for atleast 15sec. reconnecct fuse (this resets the ecu code)
10. start car. re-check idle speed should be around 750rpm +/- 50rpm. if its 900 leave it! u just want below 1000rpm really. Let car idle for 1 min.
11. turn headlights on high beam and rear defroster on. let idle that way for 1 min.
12. turn accessories off. Turn A/C on MAX and let idle for 1 min
13. all done, good luck.
this procedure is for an 88-91 civic/crx w/ MPFI but im sure its the same for all civic/tegs w/ MPFI until the k-series engines.

Re:HELP: Idling Problem
You're running bigger injectors then you were before, they're dumping the same voltage of fuel into the car, which is going to be MORE then you were with smaller injectors.
You need to adjust the idler, as long as its not bouncing around its not going to be a huge deal. You're also pulling more vacuum then normal, which will require a little more pull from the engine.

Re:HELP: Idling Problem
Thanks crx88Si! I'll give that a try. Hopefully it will work.
Chacko, even before the bigger injectors I had this problem. But that thought did cross my mind.
maxrev99si, Yeah I've used the carb cleaner already and it didn't work, but it did make the engine rev smoother and cleaner.
Thanks for the response guys!
