My downpipe is wrapped too.. I haven't had good luck wrapping the turbos, but they do build turbo "blanket" kits.
At 1500+ degrees, you'll see a red snail housing and possibly manifold.. If you're lighting up your downpipe, I'd say you're real hot.

Egts are about 790C, timing map and fuel are controlled by megasquirt. The reason it gets red is cause of driving up the local mountain roads at part throttle. The DP doesnt glow only the turbo and mani.
