Going from internal to external wastegate

Going from internal to external wastegate
We are doing a kit for my friends integra and came across with a little prob. see the turbo he got is from an SVO T3 garrett 60 trim. So I took the turbo to a shop to get it checked and the guy told us that turbo was to big for the car and that it wouldnt boost till 4000-4800rpm and that the wastegate on the turbo is set at 15PSI. Is this true? If, so can we just buy an external wastegate and boost 8-10PSI? Any sudjestions?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Re:Going from internal to external wastegate
You'll be able to use that turbo, Might have a bit of lag like the guy said but it will give you room to push more boost later without switching turbos. You can use an external wastegate, just weld the wastegate flapper shut. Or you can lengthen the wastegate arm but this will increase lag.

that turbo is good, especially for a b18. works good on d-series too (more so if it has the 48 exh housing). just go out and get a different actuator, simple as that. make up some mounts for it and youre done. im not positive on the psi of that one though
