Fuel controls on a Trailerpark budget

http://www.carolinahondas.com/forums...&threadid=1924

Part two will be about chipping your ECU... I'll be providing a number of other "AFC" boost hacked bins other than the PM6 and OBD0 LS ones I have up at PGMFI shortly.

This crap is for those of you who need engine controls now... boost code is so soon I wet my drawers thinking of it.

You're the mann
Bring on the ECU chipping.

we got one for our z6 hatch from a guy on honda-tech for like 25 bucks.. it never worked right, but who knows.. it was probably user error, I fucked with that thing for hours...

Re:Fuel controls on a Trailerpark budget

You mean filetofit aka Chris something or other? He runs a voltage divider with an opamp to compensate for idle mixture control... not my choice of how to go about things, but he does have good results with it.

These things can be wierd to wire in, and don't make much sense if you don't understand how voltage and current flow changes with different loads and circuits wired in parallel...

For my voltage regulator, you have to run it's power in from the battery - if you try to run the power in from the ECU 5 volt referrence all that happens is the injectors flood the engine and the ECU kicks MAP codes. LOL, I've gotten more than one flame filled email because someone felt they had been mislead by me.

What are you talking about joseph? Boost code has been here for weeks. I've been running it in my car for 2 weeks and Jon @ TheDropShop tested it :P

Welcome to last year ^^

ummm boost code please......

And when this is all done, are people gonna be posting up their tuned files??
If not when i get mine dyno'd, i'll be willing to share them with anyone with a similar setup.

Vertigo 03-05-2003 01:04 AM

Re:Fuel controls on a Trailerpark budget

I plan on selling the boost chips for $50 once I get my car dyno'd with it... otherwise i would have posted it ages ago.

On the graphs, the x axis is RPM, y axis is fuel value (the higher the #, the more fuel). The #'s at the begining of each curve is the millibar representation for that curve.

On the tables, the x axis is millibar, and the y axis is RPM. The ign units are in degrees BTDC.

What is ERM?

Vertigo, what boost chips? What will they work in... (PM6)? I'm a little confused here.

Yes it is, I'm trying to help Jon out by letting him chip cars for free with my program. So I put his logo on it so it would be more business like :)

me_dr_pep:

Boost chips are chips that letthe ecu control boost, very similar to hondata and zdyne. Right now, my editor only supports non-vtec OBD1 ecu's, and the P72 (but u cant edit vtec maps, lol)

Hmnm I'm just done with my Ghetto AFC HAck.
Have to get the DSM injectors now and try this baby out

MR_DR_PEP 03-05-2003 03:11 PM

Re:Fuel controls on a Trailerpark budget

I know about that...

I was trying to figure out what ERM was. I've got my spare ECU (PM6) with ZIF already put in, and now we got boost chips.. yeahooo... I'll be trying it out as soon as I get my MSD, and the rom burn.

Did you use a real AFC or did you use the "trailerpark" method with radishack parts? Tell me how it runs! I'm prolly gonna try it when I get home from school. I have 450's sitting on my desk right now....

Vertigo 03-05-2003 05:20 PM

Re:Fuel controls on a Trailerpark budget

Right now i'm giving free boost chips to anyone with a turbo setup who wants to test. Your ecu must be an OBD1 non-vtec ecu. Let me know :) vertigo118@cox.net

It has to be Non-vtec? that's not fun! I could use one for a p28, but that's obviously vtec... so that obviously wouldn't work? :( (d16z6)

Yes the trailorpark Hack, but I don't have 450's so can't run it yet

I emailed a guy the other day and he says he'll sell me 450's for like 55 bucks plus ten shipping. I don't need the injectors, though, so here's his email address:

quicktim@comcast.net

He had an ad up on DSMtraders or somewhere....

I got boost bin file, timing, completed turbo kit, whooo. Should be another two weeks and this rex will see some BOOST.

Re:Fuel controls on a Trailerpark budget

Vertigo has the corner market on OBD1 boost. Given how everything code and hardware wise in the OBD1 ECUs are modular, you can expect VTEC support about the time he cares to bother with it.

If you're gonna sell that shizzle for 50 beans, I withdraw all objections about it not being open source.

Vertigo, in his towering pomposity ;D, also pointed out a (the?) flaw in the current OBD0 boost code, which is PM6 based. George Ricketts has already posted to PGMFI a .bin that cuts MAP voltage on a code level, just like an AFC, only you don't have to do anything other than drop the chip in. He did obtain that idea from Vertigo... a very simple thing to do, but thinking out of the box to come up with that idea seems to be difficult for some.

serious, he fcking died?

George 03-06-2003 10:57 PM

Re:Fuel controls on a Trailerpark budget

No no Joseph, I'd actually thought of the idea while initially writing my boost code - but the loss of resolution in that technique meant I went for a double map based implementation.
You say Vertigo found a flaw in the boost code?? What, Where, When, How and Why? :)

George

hey, what a second...

Does the 91PM6GeorgeHack.BIN file have an error (bug?)...
That's the one I currently have, and I'm about to get a ROM programmer. Let me know, thanks.

George 03-06-2003 11:16 PM

Re:Fuel controls on a Trailerpark budget

MR_DR_PEP: AFAIK that bin should work fine. I simulated it and everything worked as expected.
I assume Joseph was meaning the current problems with the Ghettodyne code.

Re:Fuel controls on a Trailerpark budget

Hey, how'd I get dragged into this? ;D

Anyways, I'm re-writing GhettoDyne to use the Map hack George discovered/created/wrote in the interim until I work all the bugs out of the GhD boost code that allows for true 1024 values. Shooting for end of weekend?

Mike

Re:Fuel controls on a Trailerpark budget

George, I dunno if it's a violation of trust, but he wanted to see one of your test .bins, so I sent him the dropshop-derived 345cc_ZC tune. I don't know if he was fully in the grasp of the alleged error, because when he was talking about it, he pasted your commented dasm from the PGMFI thread. He's and awfully bright ----, but his focus isn't the PM6/7 code, so I dunno.

RIP Vertigo... :(
