Oh yeah that's a good point cleve.
I was planning on doing megasquirt (neat project for me and my dad to learn more about building maps, he's pretty good with his EFi and such; licensed toyota hybrid tech..) or AEM Fuel Ignition Controller.. The cheap (and "better")way to do it is with bigger injectors, an SAFC an a wideband.. |

everyone cuts up fmu's but i ran one for months and had no issues, although i used a aem adjustable one with wideband which obviously helped
|
well good for you it does not change the fact that they are complete ----, but some times you have to use them i would never put one on a lamborghini though but i would not think twice about putting one on a terdcel
|
i have run an fmu with no mechanical problems... ran a 14.33 1st time at the track... now i'm tuned and it feels much faster but haven't gone back to update times yet

While FMU is not the best thing out there it's way better than not running some sort of fuel management at all. If Piggyback like SAFC/Emanage, Rom Tuned ECU, and Standalone ECM is not an option whatever reason that may be. Then your option is look up the best FMU unit out there that is reliable and fully adjustable. There are 2 good FMU's in my opinion and its the new Synapse FMU and BEGI FMU. Both of which has full adjustability on the ratio which 1:1 to 12:1. Best thing is that it will also replace your current FPR. This will be an all in one unit. Main thing with this FMU is to be able to adjust on the fly rather having to swap a disc for the ratio your looking for. Note that running too Lean or Rich has the same damaging effect to the motor which is the drawback of most of standard FMUs for it cannot dial in exactly to the proper ratio you need for your setup. PS you will need a reliable/high volume fuel pump and fuel hose with higher burst rating. GL with the project!!
