Default fireplace mortar to fix a leak?

i know this is extremely ghetto but has anyone had any experience using fireplace motor to fix a leak? I have a leak between my manifold and adaptor plate. It says this stuff is good up to 2000 degrees...but i don't know if it will withstand the pressure. thanks

i tried to make a gasket but there isn't enough surface area between the manifold and plate. The outter edge (towards the radiator) or the manifold just barely goes over the passage in the adaptor plate. If this don't work im just gonna get them welded together.

I tried to use that stuff to fix the giant leak between a warped manifold and the head. Yeah, it didn't work at all. :P
