Default A few pics of my DIY Turbo Modular Motor Foxbody Mustang

Here is a few pics of my recent project. Its a 1988 Mustang LX (former 4cyl car) The engine is a 4.6 SOHC 2valve with 2002 Ported and Polished P.I. Heads, Intake, Cams. Modular Engine K-member and Front Suspension. Automatic Tranny(for right now have 5spd also waiting to see which i like better) Iam using a Holset HE-351CW Turbocharger, Custom Made Modified Factory Exhaust Manifolds. Iam gonna be using a MegaSquirt V2.0 (with every avaliable option)to control Fuel and Spark. This project started out naturally aspriated but i received an almost brand new Holset HE-351CW and made the manifolds and then i had no reason not to try it, the best part about the whole project is i have a total of about $550.00 invested in the whole project (Car,Engine,Transmission,Turbo, and Piping) Ive been collecting parts for the last couple years to build a car and this is what i have so far. Now i need to buy BOV, Wastegate, Megasquirt Stand-Alone ECU and i should be pretty close to firing it up and getting started tuning it should be a fun car no reason it wont Turbo'd V-8 in a light car with good suspension etc.and its a great way to learn about turbocharging and etc. Anyway here are some pics of my progress so far.

The car and the turbo setup looks good. One good thing about your project is, you only need a small amount of boost (5-7psi) and you have a monster. You might also have to upgrade your transmission.

Good luck.

You can upgrade to a 99 lightning MAF and then modify the stock ECU. No need for mega squirt.

The car has an AODE right now but iam considering switching to a 5speed, or C4 or turbo400 tranny depending on what i can find a good deal on

My plans are to get it running correctly and tuned then i will be installing the forged bottom end (Rods,Pistons, and Crank) in an aluminum block i have laying around to keep the weight down and then up the boost a forged bottom end 4.6 can take 700+rwhp so iam not really worried once i get the bottom end installed. should run good with the ported and polished P.I. Heads, Cams, and Intake also. The thing i like is the Holset uses a T4 flange making it pretty easy to upgrade at a later time when i begin maxing the Holset out. The car is gonna be EXTREMELY LIGHT hoping 2,800 lbs. (which is really light for a Mustang) i want to stick with an automatic with a transbrake so i can leave the line with boost i plan on having an extremely well put together suspension also and slicks and skinnies

Yeah this thing should be very fast. I hear those mod motors are good to way over the power levels the 5.0 guys were getting without splitting the block. Budget boost mustangs seem to perform very well for the money. Cant wait to see it running!
