A few pics of my DIY Turbo Modular Motor Foxbody Mustang
Here is a few pics of my recent project. Its a 1988 Mustang LX (former 4cyl car) The engine is a 4.6 SOHC 2valve with 2002 Ported and Polished P.I. Heads, Intake, Cams. Modular Engine K-member and Front Suspension. Automatic Tranny(for right now have 5spd also waiting to see which i like better) Iam using a Holset HE-351CW Turbocharger, Custom Made Modified Factory Exhaust Manifolds. Iam gonna be using a MegaSquirt V2.0 (with every avaliable option)to control Fuel and Spark. This project started out naturally aspriated but i received an almost brand new Holset HE-351CW and made the manifolds and then i had no reason not to try it, the best part about the whole project is i have a total of about $550.00 invested in the whole project (Car,Engine,Transmission,Turbo, and Piping) Ive been collecting parts for the last couple years to build a car and this is what i have so far. Now i need to buy BOV, Wastegate, Megasquirt Stand-Alone ECU and i should be pretty close to firing it up and getting started tuning it should be a fun car no reason it wont Turbo'd V-8 in a light car with good suspension etc.and its a great way to learn about turbocharging and etc. Anyway here are some pics of my progress so far.
Picture of Modified Stock Manifolds before they were Rewelded
A Few Pictures Of the Holset HE-351cw Turbo
Picture of Turbo Piping from Manifold to Turbo(most of the piping in the pictures was just for mocking up and has been replaced with mandrel bent 2.5" Piping)
Picture of Turbo Placement Directly Behind Passenger Side Headlight
Picture of the Exhaust Housing (Housing is larger than it looks i think b/c it uses a 4" Exhaust flange)
Pictures of Where Iam Currently at with the Project

The car and the turbo setup looks good. One good thing about your project is, you only need a small amount of boost (5-7psi) and you have a monster. You might also have to upgrade your transmission.
Good luck.

yeah i was gonna go the 90mm MAF and 42lb injectors but i want to go with a megasquirt b/c it will give me more control of the tune and datalogging cababilities.

Yeah this thing should be very fast. I hear those mod motors are good to way over the power levels the 5.0 guys were getting without splitting the block. Budget boost mustangs seem to perform very well for the money. Cant wait to see it running!
