Default expected gain?-opinions on turbo setup

Ok well Ive been researching on turbo's and this site has been super helpful...but I havent been able to figure out exactly how much of my 1/4 mile ET I can shave off with a good turbo setup and proper fuel/engine management? Ive got an 89 crx si with a Jdm B16a (obd-0) swap/S1 tranny and am considering a t3/t4 turbo with around a .67/.60 trim and A/R of .63--
Should this still make power at 8500rpm with future upgrades to the valvetrain?

I am wondering (with 195/50/r15 street tires) how much i can improve my 1/4 mile time running around 9psi? The B16 is all stock internals. Check my sig for my N/A ET.

How much boost can my B handle with this size turbo?

Would this setup spool around 4000rpm? Any further input on the turbo setup would be great too. Thanks

Go to the GENERAL DISCUSSION section, and read the feedbacks under the heading "Offical HMT 1/4 Mile Times Post."

.67 or .60 trim a friend of mine has a .57 trim with a .63 exhuast on his h22. its spools about 3500 full boost that seems a little bit big. i have a t04e 50 trim on my d16. if i were you id stay at around a .57 trim with a .63 exhuast

I know I sound like a total dork because I have no experience with turbos yet. Thank you for the info. I didnt know that thread was in the General Forum.

I dont want my turbo to spool too soon because I wont catch traction if I am at full boost upon launch on street tires. I am thinking that 3500rpm is too soon. As it is already i cannot stop spinning in 1st gear with N/A and hardly any mods. In order to accomplish a longer spool time (lag) I should look into a larger exhaust turbine trim size, right?

I think you should get an electric "turbo" of ebay, they claim a 1 second 1/4 mile gain.

I hope you are not being serious. I am posting on this forum to get information about real turbo setups. Please dont suggest the 'electric' supercharger/turbocharger as a serious alternative. That's a joke-- https://www.homemadeturbo.com/tech_p...wer/index.html

...you mean a .57trim comp wheel with a .60 or .63 trim exhaust turbine wheel? About what A/R ratio would this be? Sorry I am new so you have to be extra specific. Thanks

Ok, thanks. So does the .63 A/R ratio automatically mean that the exhaust turbine has to be a "stage 3" .76 trim?

Also in the setup being described what difference would be felt between a .50 trim comp wheel or a .57 trim comp wheel, technically?
