One thing I know from experience, its a lot EASIER than doing a full 3" in an EF when you have 4" clearance between a 22mm sway & frame. I'd bet it would be a lot cheaper if I did this in stainless, since 3" pipe is much more expensive than the 1.5" or 2" I'd use for the axle-back. It does make more power, while also being both louder and quieter. With my EF's full 3" exhaust (no cat, 2 straigh-through resonators) you couldn't hear the turbine 'whirr' - with this cutout you hear it loud & clear.

As for working it, I have eCtune which has controlable outputs (like AEM?), as well as secondary maps for when its open. I can set it to open at a certain throttle possition, rpm, any vac/boost point, combo of a few settings, etc. I'm enjoying it most with it opening at 50% throttle. 49% and lower still makes me boost, so I can keep it closed w/o really trying.

If you don't have ectune, you could still open it with the thottle. They make relays that kick on with really low voltage, so you could wire it to the TPS and open at ~50% (2.5 volts). I have some 3v's and 5v's, but I haven't tried to see what min voltge they need. Most require half the stated voltage.

I just hold the motor on, it doesnt seem to explode so I am fine with it as it wont ever be open for extended time. Its a "on demand" only setup.

Mechanically, I guess so. Piston/rod Z6. It made 160whp with a 50trim T3 @6psi and stock cat/exhaust, so you can guess what it's like now with an S-trim @16psi and the open cutout.

I'll probably be going B18 next fall , since its a street car and I want faster spool. This motor will probably go into my EF beater, or whatever it happens to be at that point.
