dynoed my car today

D16Z6 at 117K miles
ARP headstuds
GReddy 15G kit + 6" FMIC + BOV + EBC
stock cat + Apexi WS2 exhaust
stock injectors (at 95% duty cycle) and fuel system
stock ignition + NGK BKR7E-11
EManage

8psi -> falling to 7psi at the top, 11:1 A/F in boost

dyno: 163 WHP at 6K, 158 WTG at 5K

conditions: 5:42pm; 56.36 deg F; 29.00 in-Hg; Humidity 18%; SAE 0.99

---------

about what I expected

I did 3 pulls, on the first two it appears that the spark plugs didn't produce a spark from 5200 to 5500 RMP (no CELs) which went so fast that I haven't noticed it before - just saw that on the dyno graph. The 3rd pull went all clear where I made 163WHP and 158 WTG ... So sometimes it misses spark, sometimes it goes OK .. hm

the above issue is due to the fact that I haven't pregapped my plugs -> which I'm about to do tomorrow ...

-----------

3K - 55 WHP
4K - 105 WHP
5K - 150 WHP
6K - 163 WHP
7K - 155 WHP
7,250 - 150 WHP, and red zone after that

I'll post the graph later

The RC 440s are gonna go in when I switch to Hondata s300 most likely

lol .. that's about it as of now ...

it falls due to the small turbo, and the fact that I'm with my stock cat

Damn, they sell a kit with an undersized turbo??? You got ripped off, dude. Now, take adavantage of this site, and learn to build a real kit

:) I know how to build me an engine and a nice kit for it :) But I don't have time to deal with this right now, just paid my school also, which was out-of-state tuition .. you know what I'm talking about, don't you

Re: dynoed my car today

I'm stumped. You have a way overpriced turbo kit, stock fuel injectors at 95% duty (running 11.1 A/F ???), an electronic boost controller ??? stock exhaust (yeah, that overpriced apexi exhaust ain't nothing but fancy), and you didn't make ---- for power when it was 56 degrees outside. I bet you could take a V6 mustang from a roll. ::)

I woulda killed myself for having that car, and then killed myself for making a post about it.

dang.... gotta figure out what is up with that. Not trying to down you man. I made more HP/TQ than that on a VAFC "hack" street tune (no wide band). I think that you should definitely improve the fuel set-up and management....

Goodluck bro.

Did it really? In ALL honesty Josh did your GS-R dyno over 160whp? I have a freind made 193whp off a 65shot of nitrous and was just curious.

Mid-160 whp on stock 240cc injectors, with bsfc of .60-.65 = at or over 100% duty. Be real careful of that, you're walking on thin ice.

Stock GSR typically 151-ish whp. Some run stronger, respond okay to light bolt ons. Not mentioning varying dyno calibrations. Low 160's is common for stock ITR, btw.

Most nitrous kits run super rich, down into the 9:1 AFRs. While generally making good power, your friend is probably losing a little bit due to rich misfires and un-ideal ignition timing.

hahahahaaaaahahaaaaa

anyways, thanks guys for your replies .. It was my first dyno ever, so it was about what I expected. As for the money that I spent on the car - I had to make it reliable, and that's what it is ... I could make more power if I wanted at that boost - just up 2 degrees and I'll add 15WHP, but I'm going for reliability rather than for power, it's my dailiy driver

also I had to pass emissions so that's why my stock cat is still on. And guess what, I passed at 5psi :) :) :)

from here on I'd switch the management system and install my RCs, and then shoot for over 200 WHP. I just didn't like how EManage controls bigger injectors, that's why I put my stock ones back in

Ha....You always have REALLY good answers. However, JD, he had it tuned by the local import gurus if you will on a dyno.

You can't afford a good HMT kit but you can afford an overpriced, piece of ---- Greddy kit? ???

Oh and running stock fuel system is usually more expensive than some nice 450's and Uber....because it doesnt fill your pistons with holes

Considering the fact that you have a completely stock exhaust, that it probably the cause for the lower output and the dropoff at the end..

160ish whp seems to be the norm for kits on a d series, i don't see what all the bitching is about?

good job though :y

hmm... not realy with a semi good setup it is normal to be right aruond 200 WHP mark... and all the bitching is about him buying an overpriced kit and not making all that much power, I was $800 into my setup on D16Z6 motor and i put down 232 WHP down, that is pushing it for a D series but staying around 200 is about right... Dude get some 450's and uberdata and you'll be good

thanks .. I was thinking of removing the cat but I just passed emission a month ago too, so it had to be on there. And I'm too lazy to get under the car again and take it off now. Do you think that without that cat the small 15G turbo is gonna be able to hold the boost ?

I used to have a 3" SS KTeller but it was too laud for me, I ran it 1.5 months and I sold it

What is your setup? 232 whp is hard to believe for $800.. I have over $1500 in my H23 and am pushing a tad more than you at 7 psi.. granted I have a small/med size turbo..

pregapped my BKR7E-11 from 0.044 originaly to 0.035 ..

funny thing is that my car ran leaner .. the difference was of about (0.5 - 1.0):1 A/F leaner than before ..

so I left the car to idle for 30 sec and it corrected itself .. it idled at 15.5 A/F and corrected to 14.7 in 30 sec, lol ...

^ smart car

That should be a fun little car. I ran my 200,000 mile D15 on my dyno about two weeks ago. It only made 150 with a small small turbo. Have fun with it, and rember there will always be someone faster than you, so don't worry about it.

Getting a local muffler shop to throw a larger diameter exhaust wouldn't be hard at all, nor would it have cost much money. Why didn't you wait until after you had to get inspected, get an exhaust and other stuff, and then go and get it dynoed ???

if you're making that much then you'll have to wait until I put me a build DOHC

However people that talk a lot suck in reality, lol, ... so I think I'll have to race you with a bone stock D15 >:D

*EDIT I take that back..

I guess it helps to have a D series and not have any problems along the way :\

I don't know about the sucking at life part, I seem to be doin alright, but my prelude is a piece..

Never had so many problems with a car before, my advice, don't get one ;)

tell me about it, my 2.5" turbo back is ridiculous at certain rpm's, drones... annoying, but probably due to the single chamber, those things are notorious for resonance..

In the future I think I'll go with a stock exhaust and a dp cutout.. cheaper anyways..

i have 2.5in kteller exhaust from the downpipe back with no resonator and just a magnaflow can muffler and it sounds great, not too loud at all. I love magnaflow :-*
