Dyno tuning on the streets ????
I was just woundering how some of you guys tune your cars on the street without using a dyno. The reason being is I'm not going to be able to goto the dyno till a month after I put my turbo on. First reason is that they are booked solid until then and I'm not paying extra to bump another guy off for myself. and second I won't have all the money to run all day like I want until a month after but I want to be able to tune i alittle on the street so it performs nice but not like crap and I know the only real way to tune it is on a dyno but what do some of you guys do. I was talking to a RX-7 owner that came into my sho on day ( I'm a mazda tech. ) and saw that he converted to single turbo set-up and ask him how he did in the dyno and his reply was " This thing halls *** and has never seen a dyno.... I do all my tunnng on the street. Just take it out late at night. Fix/mess with the settings and see how it runs from there. " Is this what you guys do ?
There is a thing called the street dyno or road dyno that is suppose to be very accurate. You feed in some info and then record a run.. it calculates hp and gives you a nice chart. Do some searches for street and road dyno and it should come up.
Well when I said dyno tunning on the streets I ment tuning your car on the street and not on a dyno. My friend has the brand new G-Tech pro and I have dynoed my car without the turbo and the results the G-Tech gave me and my friend was only off by about 10HP and 10FTlb of torque... not to bad for something that plugs into your cig. lighter. My friend dynoed his car the same day I did mine and it says his #'s were about 10HP off and 10FTlb so it's not to bad accuracy wise.

Check it out here. Its very acurate. it uses the same software and formulas as the dyno. You just have to know some infomation like weight and gear ratios. $150 for the kit ready to go.
