Doesn't matter. Almost every one I have ever seen was cracked. My dumbass dropped one on my way to the garage to install my last set. I had to remove that one. It was cracked pretty bad. 
Just rip them off if they are too damaged. You don't want loose chunks coming off while the motor is running.

i asked a guy and he said they were insultators or some ----...
so it shouldn't really evne matter if i just remove the pieces all togheter?

so if i were to put these bad boys in w/ a TE chipped ecu, running NA could I get my car to idle and run basicly the same? and will my gas mileage drop at all ?
