Dodge Neon
Hey guys I'm a new user here. I know this is primarily a honda/acura site but it said to feel free to talk about any car so here goes. I have a 1998 Dodge Neon. The engine is the 2.0L 16V DOHC. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with turbocharging these engines? I am looking to sort of piece together the parts I need to develope a good kit but I have very little knowledge in this department. All I know so far from what I have read is that Mitsubishi turbos work well since the Neon engine is actually a Mitsubishi engine. If any of you can share some knowledge I would greatly appreciate it and I look forward to hearing from you.

Re:Dodge Neon
Its just like any setup, you are going to need to completely piece everything together. You will need all your basics, Turbo/Manifold/Intercooler/Lines/BOV/Management/etc etc. I've seen a few neon setups, and those 420a's can hold a pretty good amount of power in stock form.
wish I could help more..

Re:Dodge Neon
neon dude - this forum is for everybody looking to do a HMT setup - it just so happens that hondas/acuras are the ----! :P
Your car is no different - just take a couple hours and READ UP. You'll learn a lot! Keep reading and re-reading and next thing you know you'll know your stuff.

Re:Dodge Neon
thanks for the feedback. I know the turbo and vehicle manufacturers dont have to be the same I was just implying that the Mitsubishi might fit better. As far as boost goes, I am looking at a minimal amount. I would probably go 5 psi max until I set up the engine to handle more.

Re:Dodge Neon
Yeah everybody says they're only going to run 5 psi max, than you find out how much fun boost is, get a boost controller and before you know it your spiking the boost to 25 than you end up with 4 holes in your hood. Happens all the time

Re:Dodge Neon
Oh I know, I have seen my share. But if you knew me then you'd know that I baby my engine so much!! And when I say 5 psi I mean it. Now when I catch the bug for more boost I will build the engine to handle it. (as money allows of course) But I agree w/ you that plenty of people start out low and then go to insane amounts then cry when the pieces start flying out the oil pan.

Re:Dodge Neon
I know people that never turn up the boost ever. Theres one guy and Maple Grove Raceway he runs a turbo Type R (a real one) it does 15.6 and thats all. I was like "why don't you turn it up?" His answer was "it runs so good at 5 pounds) What a douche bag. Nothing like putting a turbo onl your car to make it slower
