Cylinder Brace is it worth it?

Re:Cylinder Brace is it worth it?
Actually pounding in a "Cylinder brace" block guard puts more of a distortion on the cylinders than anything. The correct way to install a block guard is to have it welded in then having the block re-decked.
Pinning and posting has been around for years, I've used it.. and think it works just fine. Its not like you are freaking putting huge side load when installing the pins, its like a few inch pounds only. Not enough to really do any damage, but enough to hold the cylinders from shifting.
They are both cheap methods of block support.. Sleeving is really the way to go, but not everyone has a 1g to dump on that

I agree that a block guard distorts the cylinder walls. If your going to pin your block I'd reccomend a shitload of pins. Your only installing the pins with inchpounds of force but than the load that is put on the pins when they're trying to stop the walls from shaking is much greater.
Its simple physics, when a load is concentrated onto a small area the stress levels are alot higher compared to when the load is distributed over a greater area.
