Default Compressor surge problems!! Help!!!!!

i have a turbo xs type s blowoff valve and am experiencing some pretty severe, at times, compressor surge. i don't have any washers in it. the vacuum line is only about a foot long. i'm not sure what to do. it does happen more severely shifting into 4th and 5th gear.

those BOVs come from factory with a sticky waxy grease. I have the same BOV check out my eng pic on this page. Take a rag and spray it liberaly w/wd40 and wipe all that factory sticky grease off all the parts of the disasembled BOV. Coat the BOV parts w/motor oil and reasemble the BOV.
That sticky factory grease is a big problem. If you stil get compressor surge, which maybe just a little or none if you're boosting 6-7psi, cut off one coil of the spring. Clean the BOV and lube it first and try it out before you cut the spring. That's a LOUD BOV, people are gonna break kneck when you shift.

I have the same deal with my HKS. You might want to try a stronger vacuum source (if you've got it tee'd off all sorts of other things). You also might want to look into buying a weaker tension spring from a hardware store or whatever. I'll be doing that *** soon as I get my new setup all done. I tried cutting the spring, it helped a bit but it's still there at times.

thanks for the advice. it's doesn't look the same as yours, do you have the rfl? i'll try and clean it and see what happens. right now i'm running 8-10psi depending on what it feels like doing and when i shift it's a nice loud whoooosh!! it's so much better being turbo than having that annoying hum of a cannon ball shooter.
