Default Charge piping question??

Ok, im going to be buying my piping real soon, and ive been reading some old threads about it.

Im using a T25 dsm turbo, what size is it's outlets? 2 inches? they loook really small

Ok im going to be using my AeM intake, as part of it, and then my question is what size should i use from the turbo to the intercooler, and then from the intercooler to the intake?

Should i get a 2.5 transition connector to like a 2 inch? for the intercooler?

from what ive read, u can get lag if u use too big of pipes with these small turbos.

Also, would it be ok if i placed my DSM bov before the intercooler? does it effect performance any. sorry for so many questions

Rob

yuor not making alot of sense man. is your intercooler 2.5?

its up to you on the 2.5 or 2" issue. either way there wont be much difference.

BOV before fmic will work.

Ok, yes the Intercooler is a 5 inch, tyrus 2.5 outlets

It would probably be easier to work with the 2 inch piping on the intet side of the fmic, then use the 2.5 to the AEM from the intercooler.

Sorry hard to understand with words, maybe i should draw pics, ahhaha

im using the same turbo and fmic as you, so maybe i can help. I am using 2.5" all the way.. i ordered from jcwhitney (3) 90 bends (1) 45 bend, and (1) 180 U-bend.. looks like its going to work perfectly. im just going to use a 2" to 2.5" adapter from the turbo to the piping

Yea, i have the Dsm bov, with elbow, and rubber hose, so im not sure if i should use that or what.

i think i might use 2 inch from the turbo to the intercooler then the 2.5 from the rest, still not sure yet

thanks man, let me know how it goes, ur intercooler is mounted and everything, when u think ur going to get the pipes on?

im just waiting on the couplers i ordered from stealthmode to get here and ill snap a few pics. for the time being im using a 2g dsm bov (pos, i know!) with its platic 2.5" tube, and i will just couple it in between two of the metal pipes.. i may mock it up with duct tape if they couplers dont come in today so i can make sure ive got it all cut how i want

i decided to use 2.5" from the turbo to IC since i was going to need a size changing adapter anyway.. all 2.5" to keep it uniform

i'm going to change the way my air intake on the turbo is
so that it sucks in colder air. right now the airfilter is
at the hight of the turbo behind the radiator fan. i'm gonna change it to where the airfilter is close to the ground still behind the radiato fan but below it so it won't suck up as much hot air from the fan. i bought a black rubber coupler that camp w/2 hose clamps at homedepot they where in the pvc pipe section. i thought they would fit the 2 1/2inch charge pipe since the coupler said it was for 2" but i measured the id of it and it was 2 3/8th" so with the least amount of stretching it fits and the turbo inlet is 2 1/4" od so it'll fit that by clamping it tight. not bad it was $3.97 and it came with the 2 hose clamps, i bought the high temp blue hose for the charge pipes at $3.50 per 3" section and that doesn't include the hose clamps which will be another $3. for 2= $6.50 total-$3.97 for the homedepot coupler w/clamps incl.= $2.53 which aint much savings but when you have to buy 5 or 7 couplers and 10 or 14 hose clamps the cost starts to add up. excuse the long post about something not too significant but i'm bored now :P

Its all good bout the long post! hahha, I will be using a 1st gen Dsm bov with the elbow, and the rubber hose too, also a stock HF intake is the same size!! LOL GHETTO!!!!!!!!! i dont know if ill take it that far, depends if im desperate.

then ill just move it up to 2.5 after the intercooler, with a small 90 degree bend to the aem intake.

BTW: i bought one of those K&N filters from Theebluecrx, and it goes directly on the turbo inlet, do u think it will be cold or hot air, its on a 4th gen so it wont have a fan there.

on mine like i said in the long post i'm gonna aim the air filter as close to cars ride height as possible so it could suck up the colder air passing under the car. now i have it about 1'4" on a 2 1/2" pipe reduced to 2 1/4" to fit the turbo inlet. the pipe has a short 45 degree bend pointing up and that's where the airfilter is mounted. it's a autozone rice special filter and it ends up placed touching the engine bay on the passenger side right behind the radiator fan.
