good price but it looks fluffier than the DEI.

Such wrap tends to flake away over time, DEI are very keen on proposing you their silicone paint to freeze the tape in place but the coloured paints makes it look like ----. Transparent paint (high temp clear coat) makes a cleaner job IMO.

If you don't drive the car often (or let it sit overnight depending on where you live), moisture can get in between the heat wrap and manifold by condensing. So unless you wrap your manifold air tight or run it 24/7, it can trap moisture.

but when you start the car up, moisture is gone, no ill effects.

My header started rusting where the heatwrap WASN'T. Oh yeah, those pics are after 8 years.....

if iremember my metallurgy correctly, it makes total sense.

A steel rod half soaked in water will rust first imediately over the water level. not in the water.

So basically, it rusts where the voltage (very small voltage due to differences in surface tension between wet and dry) or even simpler, or most probably a combination of both, it will rust first where corrosion can be fed by oxygen the most.
