What exactly did you do to pressurize the carburetor? - as it looks as though you have a blow through arrangement. The carb needs to be sealed for instance - and other factors need careful consideration or it would simply lean out causing massive internal engine damage! You need to get the air/fuel ratio right which means ideally some work on the rollin road. - I hope you haven't just simply bolted the turbo's pipe to the carburetor? And what about compression ratio - if its a low pressure turbo system you've built - you maybe get away without having to lower it? Uprate the head gasket at least or it will blow! You need to look at ways to retard the ignition on turbo boost. Anyway enough for now....

Just to say like your build love cheap turbo setups, make me want to do a winter project on my very slow bmw m10.

It is so easy to punch holes in what others have done. People lighten up a bit. Is what he has done perfect? No, but dam he has a turbo car (I can not say that at the moment). I am impressed with your "get it done" mentality. I have been working on a project for way to long and I need more of your just do it and see what happens and correct things from there.
One thing I would do is fab up a pipe that replaces the inter-cooler so in a pinch you can replace it if some one backs in to you or something. Keep it in the trunk just in case. Congrats on the build!!!! |
