i was wondering if something like a cap for an external wastegate would leak easily or threaten the integrity of the manifold...right now i just don't have the money to afford and external wastegate so i have no need for this...

 

No, you'll be fine if you get a cap and block off that wastegate flange. Lot's of people do that.
