What I would do is swap in a SOHC VTEC, MPFI components are a bitch to get a hold of yes but worth it and these would be needed regardless.
B16A into a EF isn't all that anyways, adding a 4-1 headder is a bitch. I would spring for atleast a D16 or B18A "91 -93" LS/RS.
Now if you want 12 second slips and reliability shop around for an S13 240SX and get an SR before prices rise! Stock swap you should get 14's easily, spend a little $ and you got your 12's but then you will be in a constant battle for traction.

in JDM land, they didnt have the D16a6, they called it the ZC, the ZC is a huge breed of D-series for JDM cars.. all the way from 86 to 92. Some pre obd, some obd0 and obd1. Some single cam, some twin cam.. and even the rare single cam Vtec ZC. ZC's are All 1.6l's and all have the same crank/rods. (even some had Twin Carb setups...)

I still haven't made up my mind, but I've learned a few things, and that's important. I'm leaning toward just saving for a b-series swap. can anybody give me an idea of the cost of building a b-series: sleeves (and what else needs to be done with sleeving) rods, pistons, valve train, crank (would it be necessary?), and anything else you can think of. All you replies are appreciated.

for less than half the price you could have way over 200 hp in a d series. this is myt plan. my kit is days from being completed. total cost of my kit was $500 and i am expecting some 13 second slips in the spring.
