can't decide

I originally wanted to get a b-series swap then put a big turbo one, but now I realize that I don't have any money. I am thinking about just turboing my 88 hatch dx with the stock d15b2. The only thing jeff seems to do with them is blow them, so is this a good idea? should I just save up and buy the b-series later? my main goal is to kill all stupid ricers and muscle cars. I also want to kill people at the track and show the laidies my 12 second time slips. any advice will be appreciated.

well that is ur decision there....i would rather have a b16 over a dx d15...just a preference...or even a d16 over the d15....but it also is dual point injection...so there would be some work there to make power..but it has been done ...just look at the turbo projects on this web page...

DPFI to MPFI is easy..

Gathering all the right parts might be a chore..

good luck beating any kind of "muscle" car with a stock d15. you'd have to make like 200 or more hp to compete with a all stock corvette or a ss camaro.

you may be able to beat one with a b series with like 10 pounds of boost on it or something.

also good luck getting in the 12s on a stock b, and a stock d... out the question.

Set a goal FIRST. You'll actually save money this way! Woohoo.

A stock D15 with 12 pounds of boost will just barely skim under 14 seconds with a good driver. I would either get a ZC or D16a6 (build it up a little) and run 10-12 PSI with intercooler, FMU and injectors.

After my Turbo A6 goes, I'm dropping in a built ZC to run 12 PSI. I'm sticking to it too!

Ditto...^^^^^

You are going to have to work you ass off man and I mean it.You needa save for a b16 and build it up..That d series you got with a turbo on it will blow like a hooker with a million dollas..Good advice;;;SAVE YOUR MONEY!!>:)

I blew one DX man, and I tried several times on purpose to blow it up.

All my motors blew is because they had some serious boost. Run a resonable amount of boost and you will be fine.

B-series is always a better platform, but not everyone has the cash for a B-series, that is why cheap little turbokits are fun.

I say go get yourself a sohc zc or a d15b vti vtec motor motor and swap it in. Cheap swap then think about some F.I. I ran 13.30's on a vti motor with bolt ons and a 75 shot with a zex kit and have never had any problems so d series motors are a descent platform.

spend the 800 u would spend on a b16a or whatever on some sleeves and run over 15psi. i am sure u could get some good numbers with a d series pushing 20psi..

need some rods to.

15-20 psi would become another project ;D
