Default BOV Question

On the top of my BOV it has a nut to adjust Hard or Soft, what does this mean? What is the difference between the two settings? Would either one work better with an auto trans?

if it is set too soft it will open up under boost... if it is set to hard it wont open at all...
on your setup any setting will work.. Iwould leave it fairly soft with low boost...

Can I ask on this topic How can we know how much too release? I mean, how hard or how soft should it be, how to determine that amount and how the calculate it with the bov (is there a gauge we can plug to the bov ??)

Thanks

just leave it in the middle.. if you have problems you will know it and you can adjust....

You should only need to adjust it if your getting boost leaks or a funky engine idle. To check ... I would just open the trumpet, and look if the exhaust ports in the BOV are open when the car is idle. If they are then you need to adjust, if they aren't you're fine.
