I fixed it for you.

Sure, sometimes you run up on a good used turbo, but even those are half dead.

Spinning pumps to 150000+ rpms to make two to six times stock power output wears ---- out, guys, sorry to have to break that to you. I know how they tell you on HT that a turbo makes your car invincible, gives you an extra 20 mpg and ULEV spec, and suddenly makes rich supermodels want to ride in your noisy econobox and ---- you by way of thanks for condescending to be seen in public with them... but, guys, HT is wrong.

i get that.... but your post was absolutely useless and stupid...

so anyways. like I got a turbo today, has no shaft play at all. then this borg warner has slight play,.

Now I know any shaft play is bad, but what can you use to MEASURE shaft play. you guys gave me measurements to stay within, but what tool do u use to measure that with lol.

thats all im asking here.

The TO4BS maxes out at 37 lbs/min which is roughly 550 CFM. The problem with the TO4BS and the thing that you don't seem to understand and that I have already told you, is that the largest of the RHC6 family, being the VX89, maxes out at 17.5 m^3/min which is roughly 39 lbs/min. The TO4BS starts running out of steam before 30 lbs/min. It starts losing efficiency at around 27 lb/smin and goes downhill from there. The problem as you still don't seem to understand is that it isn't about equating the TO4BS and the GM1-8 as the same turbo, they're not. Size wise the compressor and turbine wheels are very close therefor the maps will be similiar with the GM1-8 having a slight edge. But still not a 500+ hp turbo like you claimed on your website.

That was the problem and I see that you've changed it. It's not about it being able to make 500+ hp, you made it seem like it was able to make it there all day every day, and it won't. It's a 250-400+ hp turbo, not a "This guy with a Camry made 500 hp" so it's a 500 hp turbo.

As I've said, the VX89 and VX series are much larger than any of the Borg Warner GM1-8's as I have already told you. The GM1-8 is hardly the largest in the series of RHC6's. If you were to equate it to Garrett turbos, it would be like a 40 or 45 trim T3 and the larger VX's (there are many) would be closer to the T3 60 trim. The GM1-8 are the bottom of the barrel for RHC6's therfor are rated much lower than 17.5 m^3/min. In terms of actual flow, the GM1-8 top out at roughly 580 CFM. Rule of thumb for forced induction is 150 CFM per 100 hp. The reason that people are dynoing higher is not because the turbo is capable of flowing more air, but because they're running higher boost.

I'd love to see some of the IAT's, EGT's and best lean torque AFR's of those dyno sessions BTW. :1

Go rape Custom Coach of America for their junkyard turbos:

Arguing hp numbers is funny in Joey World. Bring me a 400 whp car, I know the dyno that will say it's a 500 whp car, as well as the one that will claim 325.

"They look about identical on paper, so I'm going to turn to a +/- 20% accurate dyno to say they are good for *exactly* 400 and no more."

It's not so much about the turbos ability, but at the time we started this discussion (through PM's) he still had it written on his website that it was a 500+ hp turbo simply because one or two people claimed to have dynoed that high with it. It's a decent turbo that doesn't get a lot of credit, but certainly not a "500hp all day" turbo. That was my only problem and I wrote to him explaining it. He wrote back like I didn't know what I was talking about, I wrote back with facts. I noticed he has since changed the info on his site and thats all that matters.

I'd pick up one of those Borgs in a hurry for $99 from CCA if I didn't already know they came from someone elses junkyard stash last year.
