Obviously-It'll work a whole lot better and be much more efficient on a larger displacement motor like yours. The smaller the motor the more boost you have to run for it to be effective. I have a friend who has one on his 4.3 and it isn't worth crap because he won't run more than 6 psi, you can hear it surging through most of the rpm range.

Do you have one or are you planning on getting one? If so, I have three that have been rebuilt. I won't be selling any of them for $30 though.

im getting hotrex's

i think its too small for my motor, and most people tend to agree it maxes out on a stock 5.0ho at 400-450hp

which is good power considering the stock heads

If he were to go above 400 hp, he wouldn't be the first, won't be the last, and most likely won't do it with the GM8. Granted the GT42 and the like are rated much much much much higher, but if you're planning on breaking any sort of records, you're gonna need a serious turbo to do it.

I see what your saying but I am strongly against the idea of building dyno queen Hondas and thats exactly what your reccomending with the too much turbo philosphy. ---- if thats the case we should all run 101mm turbos since bigger is better. There's going to be no records broken with a 1.6liter with a 7.9 compression ratio running a GT42R besides the biggest waste of a good turbo. I can say with confidence that Hotrex's motor will never even run a GT35R at max potential.

If you are looking for and inexpensive good turbo, check out the Holset hy35w and the newer HE351 from the late model dodge cummins with the HO option. They are good for a high pressure ratio and the older hy35w version is capable of 400+ HP and the newer model is even higher.
I was running one of the first versions on my ford 2.3 and at 30# it made 420 and change on a dynojet.
I gave my serial number from my turbo to a fellow 2.3'er that worked at cummins and he got me this.
This is the compressor map for the early version

random-strike the gm-8 has been used on a few JY v8's. I recall them thinking it's an OK turbo through 400, no more than 450.

i dont think this turbo is going to work too well for your set up hotrex.. because you wont have any top end. i have this turbo on my 240 with stock ka24de and i get full boost around 3200 rpm and you can feel it dying out around 5800 or so. but good luck on the set up. keep us updated id like to see how it turned out, cause im thinkin about puttin it on an ls.

Dare I say it. If you stay twins, you could find a place to mount a pair of small coolers. DSM side mounts go all day for $10-20. I would kill to see a pair of 60/63's on there, or 60/84's (or whatever the rare 8x turbine side was) or dare I say, gay out with Toyota flanges & a pair of CT-26a's. They're bigger than a 60/63 by a bit.

What kinda power are you wanting to make on your mustang?

I remember seeing some stuff on it, but I honestly don't keep track of stuff on this forum.
