How many psi are you running, maybe that wastegate isnt big enought or isnt getting a good signal

Re:Boost spike :(

a 38mm wastegate should be plenty big enough for a stock gs-r at whatever he's pushing, what like 10-12psi?

when do the spikes occur?

id guess it has something to do with the configuration of that boost controller, tried bypassing it yet?

Re:Boost spike :(

Right now i can't get it to go past 6psi. I have a ".6bar" spring is what I have been told from the seller.

I tired and tried many different ways.

I took off the Boost controller and I ended up with 5-5.5 psi.
I tried 20 million ways to route my vaccum hoses, but still spiked.

Right now, i have it routed in a way that it doesn't go past 6psi.

I'm almost ready to say that I have a defective boost controller, not sure yet.

well when you disconnected the controller, and you only got 5psi, did it continue to spike?

if not id say thats most definitely the problem.

It didn't spike when the boost controller was out the picture.

problem solved.

could be the way its installed or set up, or it could be defective.

either way, for now just buy a heavier spring for the Tial, and call it a day. They say SS Autochrome's are identical so the spring from one of those off of ebay would probably work if you wanna save a few bucks. I think it was evosol who disassembled both units to show they were the same.

Re:Boost spike :(

It can't by the way i hooked it up. First time i followed the Greddy diagram and it spiked like a mother.

All other ways yield to 5-6 psi or spiking.

Why woudl i need a new spring? If i have a .6bar shouldn't that work just fine?

Also, what do i search on ebay "SS chrome wastegate spring" ?

heavier spring will cause the wastegate to open at higher psi, its an alternative to having the other spring you have.

i think an 11psi spring usually opens at 10psi, so he probably gave you a 6psi spring, and not whatever else he claims.

ebay, just search by seller, ssautochrome, advanced search owns
all it really found for me was 8.x and 14.7psi springs.
