Default BOOST SETTING

here's the scoop:

IHI RHB5 turbo (mx6)

supposedly, the the wastegate (or actuator) is set to 8psi.

does this mean that I will not boost over 8psi? I've always let the throttle go when it hits 8psi...if I hold it down, i am afraid it will boost more...I want to keep my foot on the gas, but I thought I'd ask you guys first... can i keep my foot down once this turbo is pushing 8 psi, without the boost going past 8 psi?

thanks,
chris

LOL sounds like me the first time i drove my car after finishing it. The boost should rocket up to 8psi and then stop and stay steady even if you are flooring it. So dont worry as long as the wastegate is fine it wont go past 8-9

i hit 8 psi at around 6k...but then again my downpipe is open and the turbo seems to spool quicker now than when the downpipe was closed. I am using a d15b7 motor.

thanks JD!

you may be lacking back pressure in your exhaust system, and it may be causing the turbot to overboost.
be carefull.
