Default To boost or not to boost?

Well obviously i'm boosting, but next week i'm getting my engine put in, and i'm basically going to let it warm up to its operating temperature and then i'm going to take it through the RPM range 5 runs basically, 2k hold, 4k hold, 5k hold, 6k hold, 7k hold and then i'll do some pulls, basically drive it like I stole it, and then come back home and change the oil again then drive it like I would normally intend to for 200 miles. but shold I do this while boosting or let the car break in without boost?

If you've rebuilt the engine recently, drive it for about 500 miles without boosting to make sure the rings seat properly.

ok....

warm up to operating temp by idling. take it for a drive, do 10 pulls @ no more than 4000 rpm pulls (let cyl load up by decelorating w/o pushing in clutch) ... take home and let cool off.

drive normally (no raping to redline) for 50 miles, take home let cool off.

then (10) 6000 rpm pulls and drive like you would normally.... after that change oil

should be good to go.

first start up is key..... do not rev while idling... it will wash the cyls.

ohh.... and it dont matter if you boost or not when breaking it in.... talking from experience

not really understanding what ur saying here, but also not stepping on ur toes....

do u think that all the crosshatch is is gonna be off the cyls in 1 min? or is it the assy lube that is making u think this way? most assy lube is a petrolium based lubricant, so it will mix fine w/ the oil. definite oil chance w/in 300-500 miles tho. 1 minute is pointless if you ask me!

just my $.02

I say push start it, pop the clutch, and haul *** as fast as you can until the motor warms up. Then you're ready for turbo.

when i did mine i rolled easy to the freeway (few miles) letting it warm up completely, it sat idling in the shop driveway for a while too.

then i did a 3000rpm pull, decelerated with engine compression (dont shove in clutch)

then i did the same at 4000rpm

and then 5000rpm

and then i repeated the entire thing again.

once i had about 20 miles on it, i changed the oil. from there i drove normal and fairly easy for 500 miles, changed oil again.

done. do whatever the hell you want at that point.

ps - my rings broke in great and i hit 210psi on all 4 cylinders for a comp test on the z6.

I am putting my turbo on immediately. Breaking in the rings according to the rings directions.

I work as a flat rate tech and have built and installed many engines, I warm them up, set your timing ect, change the oil,let them cool off, then rape the ---- out of them. good to go never had a problem.
