Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

its a hks bov
a friend just rolled up & has a rfl with the adapter pipe he'll sell me for 30$ so...
I put a bag over my hks & taped the crap out of it,
I'm about to do a quick drive & see what happens,
I told him I would give him a call tomorrow if it is leaking,

my g/f said "there ya go" as I was reading ur post, when you said "patience is key "....lol

she is just a women with a small brain of course she is going to agree with a man,
we (man) invented the wheel, and built the efile tower out of iron and bronze ;) stay classy
p.s. look for the whole in the bag after you go try it itll be about the size of a half dollar ;)

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

ok...I just went out there, gave it a drive,
I pulled the vacuum line on the hks & plugged it & completly covered the bov,
anyways,
1st time I rev'd it up,phssssss....
bov was working???

I understand that it may of put a hole in the bag....but the hks works without a vacuum supply?
sounded just the same,

I'm about to go out & look at the bag

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

no....the bag doesnt have a hole in it,
its sealed really tight,

when I'm building rpm's I hear: phssssssssssssssss (louder & louder) & then phssssss (just like a bov sound)
but theres no way in hell that the bov could have made that sound with it covered like that..///...

somthings fishy....

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

There's gotta be a boost leak somewhere. I bet it's around the BOV. or the BOV itself. Is there an adjustment nut or screw on that BOV? maybe it's just leaking boost out the port on it.

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

yes,theres an adjustment,
I'll go out & tighten it all the way down,
it sucks in air at idle...when I rev the motor it still sucks in air,
but I cant tell if its blowing air out when boost passes it...

the blow off valve cant work with it completly covered & no vacuum suppply,
I'll replace it with a pipe tomorrow if the adjustment doesnt work tonight

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

id loosen the bolt, tighting it down all the way is only need for higher boost applications, something is fuct up inside of it or around it, thats wierd that it would still make a sound without a vac line hooked up, you sure you werent hearing surge ?? sounds kinda like a ssqv :P you could also have a rip in a coupler or something and it looks good, you have to pull on the coupler to make it strecth to see if there are any pin holes i konw youve gone over it a hundred times, but im guessing its a bad bov or a leak somewhere, i wouldnt guess its the turbo but its def. possible

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

yea,,I went out & tightened it all the way down, covered it even more...
still blows off,
or somthings blowing off,
but I think the hissing/air noise is the wastegate open a little bit...i think...
but I blocked it today & the hissing/air noise was still there..

I'm running with the wastegate connected to the IM
nothings connected to the turbo

I do see black suiet inside the dumptube
(but its not getting hot)

I dont think its surge...I know what surge sounds like...
but this sounds like a greddy type bov.....the phssssssss

edit:
tomorrow,
I'll remove the bov altogether & just have a pipe & see if it still blows off....
