no matter what leaks I would have in the piping?

I believe its the WG & I'm going to check today

The pressure at the turbo will be domn from a boost leak too. The measured pressure in the system won't change that much based on where you measure it ( other than pressoure drop from bends, intercooler ect).

The ONLY way to effectively test for boost leaks is by pressurizing the system with an air compressor.

If you don't have one already build yourself one of these. http://vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html

prolly no firing ring in the wastegate so its not sealing, thats why when you unhook you vac to the waste gate boost doesnt jump up higher, its leaking out from where the firing ring goes, thats my guess :4

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

I went out & removed the dumptube off of the WG,
I then blocked off the WG

I drove it with the boost gauge on the IM....I got 2psi

I then connected my boost gauge to the turbo,(compressor)
incase I had a boost leak,
the gauge read 3psi tops....

is the turbo shot? too much restriction?

I'm out of it?

......edit:
I can hear air blowing out,
the higher the rpm's go the air sound gets louder & louder,
I think its coming out of the bov,,,
but that wouldnt cause the boost reading from the compressor to only be 3psi.....??

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

sure sounds like you've got a major leak or bad turbo.
How's the play on the compressor? If the turbo is good, you can build a turbo leak tester for the intake side.

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

no...the turbo had very very little shaft play (side to side only)
I hear air coming out,
like its coming out of the intake of the turbo or the bov,

I bet the turbos leaking it somewhere....

how could I test the turbo if its leaking?

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

If you have a boost leak at any point in the piping, your guage will not register full boost, no matter where you hook the boost guage to. This is because air is leaking out somewhere preventing pressure from building. You can't have 8 psi where the turbo sits, and have 3 psi farther up the pipe.

^man!! that is sooo tight,
see I thought the turbo was gone!

I've been driving since last weekend like this & was about to give up on it today,
but tomorrow I'll start back on it...starting with the bov then the intercooler.

You said it yourself dipshit. I figured I'd clarify for your dumbass.

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

no....thats wrong,
I said that they wouldnt matter,
meaning the boost gauge should read like 5,10,15psi on the gauge
(because the boost hasnt started leaking, the gauge would be reading while its boosting)

but they do matter...
so the turbo wont build pressure
so at the IM would be the same psi as at the turbo,
(I didnt think it was like that)

Re: boost gauge hooked up to compressor....only 3psi???

ya cause it cant pressurize ( remember what psi stands for ) your turbo can be spinning at max efficiency and still only push a couple of pounds if you have a leak somewhere, what kind of bov do you have ? i pretty much said everything in your other thread but def dont give up on it, patience is key ;) it'll be worth it when your out boost grinin
