Default Boost on a Built D Series

Im planning on boosting my d16y7 with a custom 14b kit intercooled. I was wondering if the block is built. Rods, sleves, etc (obviously with fuel mods). How much boost can it actually handle before it pops? I want a low 13sec car (or less), and if it's not going to boost too well then I might as well swap a b20 then boost. Would lowering compression to say 9:1 be a smart move?

Also is the 1gen bov just as good as an aftermarket. Or is there much of an performance difference?

I would say that safely, you could run about 12psi with proper fuel management. Anything above that.. and your punish it a bit. As long as you have no detonation you should be fine with 12psi.

With a built block, pistons/sleeves/rods your boost is going to be limited by how well your car is tuned. You could easily run 20psi on a setup like that, as long as you have properly sized injectors and a kick *** engine management setup.

I think 13's would not be a problem..
