Default Blue Smoke...

Right, I have a Del Sol SiR (Jap import (I stay in Scotland)). Now, its a B16A and I've put on a T3 Turbo.

I purchased oil lines and injectors(450cc) from Tunertoys
Turbo / Manifold / Intercooler etc etc from various locations (Offical garret and parts)

Now, We've fitted it all together. Upon starting the engine...we noticed blue smoke. Turned out it was the valve stem seals. I got them replaced however I noticed that the car was still smoking...especially under full load. It also appears I'm losing oil.

Now, I put the car in to get a leak down test...it came in at 9% leakage....and 181 / 183 / 183 / 182 from the compression test. Now as I've had the stem seals replaced...and the compression test is good...how am I still leaking @ 9%?

So, I assume it has to be the turbo that's at fault? or perhaps the pressure is pushing back the seals? I have noticed some oil bubbling around the exhaust flange.

Ideas? Also, I've noticed mixed responses on oil pressure to the turbo...I havn't altered it in any way. UK sucks for custom parts . What should I have going to it?

Cheers!

I'm going to assume that it's your turbocharger that's the problem.

How is your oil drain? If it has any sharp bends or it goes up hill, it can cause oil to coke up and burn. The seals on the turbo could also be at fault. How is the shaft play? Was it a brand new turbo? They sell T3 rebuild kits on ebay for about 90 bucks. That might be the way to go.

check the turbo oil seals and also keep in mind a turbo oil restrictor, it keeps only a certain amount of oil pressure to reach your turbo and it's seals, so it doesn't blow the seals, i had the same prob in my set up.

Cool cheers for the info, the restrictor...any in mind? Its hard to get such stuff in the UK.

What sorta pressure and flow? I managed to get a small ball valve from offshore that will work..although it'll stem the flow + pressure (Although allows me to set the pressure to what ever I desire)
