Default blockguard guestion....

Hi!

I have a d16a9 engine in crx.
I´m changening it to a boosted devil and i´m wondering does the block need strengtening?

the set up is eagle rods, wiseco pistons, stock block on 75,5 bore, hks headgasket, arp headbolts. engine management is DTA whit 500cc injectors.
Headwork done and it flowed 209hv intake side.
I´m thinking of 300 crank horsepower...

there is lot of discussion of blockguards... some say yes other say its ----...

What is the thruth about it?
does the block need it?

thanks for the replies and opinions

I say it's ----, only because I've had bad experiences with them. If your block needs reinforcement, a blockguard is NOT the way to go.

plus with the boost ull most likely have to run to hit ur goal, the block might not take it. maybe once or twice, but i would not try and drive it like that every day. ive seen people make those numbers on a b series( prob. b/c u dont have to run as much boost to hit that number) with stock sleeves and like pistons/rods and a block guard. but what ever u do, get it tunned right. and think do i waunt to have fun at 200 hp for a good while, or a lot of fun at 250+ hp for a little while?

i have a blockguard.works fine, just because some people dont like them dosent make it bad.since you bored your block over to 75.5 to actually weakend the sleeve by taking away.so yes you need something there to reinforce the sleeves in my opinion.

Well, I decided I didn't like them after 3 head gaskets and a warped cylinder, but that's just me and sometimes little things like that **** me off. :P

I think ill leave the blockguard of because i have heard more ---- than good.

i think whit good tuning will prevent the engine going boom!

shame if it does that... i have spend over 4000 euros for that peace of ----...
and 4000 euros for the body and suspension and every thing else...

there is a show been held is 1.5.2005 and i am hoping that its ready to rok then... 2 years of working and saving would end then.. hope so..

if you get a blockguard, just make sure to align hone it after you've installed the blockguard.
