STR is the best...

i have a frend in NYC who has a 11.6 second turbo GSR civic.....and he has the stock sleeves with a STR blockguard.

he has 9.1:1 pistons and Rods.........and he rand the car for over a year till the motor blew...he took it apart just to find out one of the valves flew, and he repared the head and put the block back together with new pistons & rings...same rods........and the car is FINE.....and trust me...HE ABUSE THAT CAR LIKE HELL.......he had to rebuid the turbo (T3/T4) like every 2-3 months....cuz of all the abuse....and he delievers pizza (job) in it....AND, drives to skool and work in it DAILY.




based on his luck..i am gettin a BLOCK GUARD..STR

yo guys i 've been reading mixed reaction about the block guard. for some has worked for other has not ....................... now i know every body has installed it a way different than others...now what i think is since the head basically sucks the coolant off the water jacket, putting the block guard to close to the top of the deck.meaning flush with the deck... :Pduhhh :P...might be limiting the water flow. now what if by putting the guard lower in the sleves (cracks are known to start lower in the sleves) the coolant flow wont be as limited since its gona be a reserve pool right above the guard, witch by theory is supposed to keep the volume constant.......................................... .........................im gona go ahead and try an experiment, i will use a combination of posting and a block guard. i already ordered the post and guard. i will start on it this weekend.....keep yall posted

putting it deeper will defeat the pupose of the blockguard, because the edge is where the block is mostly weak, wrong or right? and a combination of blockgaurd and posting? you gonna have hell boiling over. good luck!

My blockguard is at least 1/2 inch below the deck surface and I still have problems.

i have heard of tricke like .. drilling holes in the thermostat, so that water is always circulating throughout the engine and radiator.....

you can also upgrade the Radiator to those metal lookin ones....and the fan also....

there are many things you can do....remember that even when you are running a turbo, you car will be running harder, hotter, etc.............so paying attention to the cooling system, might be a very good idea.

I have taken thermostat out, jumped fan wires to run constant, changed radiator twice. First one was a dual core metal. I have even turned the boost all the way down and tried to drive like an old person. Still overheating with the blockguard. I have lost all good feelings for blockguards. Blockguards=bad.

?dr.boost which block guard do you have is it a knock off type design if it is u might be getting knock off type performance ....and im not only putting the block guard lower i will also have it welded in to make a more solid estructure with key cooling holes drilled in ...........and remember we are all together in this so wish me luck ok.........i will surely need it

This is the one I am using. I drilled the coolant holes as big as they would go. I don't know how much more material I could take out. I'm just going to go crazy on it and tear it out. I don't ever want to have to take this head off again. I have so many head gaskets laying around now.

dr.boost .................. did u drilled holes all around ithow big where the holes ??.....im being very skeptical bout it, i suggest not to trow away the block guard idea just yet ........im working close with the machine shop to figure a way to improve on cooling by figuring the ideal spots where to drill....
