meh, well, ok. thanks for the replies, i do appreciate it.

well crap, um, i dunno where to start. well i changed the fuel filter, and nothin, changed the cap and rotor, and it stopped misfiring, for 10-15 min, i was busy so i didnt get a chance to take it for a drive. I tried it in the morning, and it was misfiring again, but if you revved it a little it would clear up, but at idle still misfire. I didnt drive it to work and this afternoon nothing but misfire, so i dont know what the next step is.

just like everybody else, im saving up for a chipped ecu and using the afc for just a bit. but i would like to get it running right again before i mess with the ecu some more.

i guess compression test would be first up? then go from there.

any way to check if a injector is shot w/o taking it out? thanks again guys

most cars that use a distributor and an electronic trigger use the turning of the distributor to establish base timing. When you turn the distributor, you're changing the base timing. The computer has it's ignition tables in it to adjust for different conditions (we all know this cause we ---- with them when we tune). However the computer makes these adjustments ontop of the base timing. So for example the ecu is expecting say 15* base timing. And lets say at idle it's going to advance timing to 18*. So mathematically speaking, that table is programmed to add 3* onto the base timing. So if you change your timing to 17 degrees, then you will end up with 20* timing at idle. Hence why base timing is adjustbale. There are some cars that do run distro's that base timing isn't adjustable on (ford crown vic i believe). Not saying you're wrong JD, but i'm pretty sure this is how it's done. Why else would honda need to be timed? Otherwise you could just thow the distro back in any position and it'd be great.

CKF is not inside the distributor, so you can not ****** turn it and set it wherever you wish. Well, I guess you can knock the crankshaft around a couple of teeth on the timing belt... cars run real well when you do that.

whoops my bad, where's the ckf on OBD1

but yeah you're right, it's down on the crank on OBD2, but oh yeah, and OBD2 car can still be timed explain that. ------ hondas, drive me crazy

Are you stupid? You are arguing OBD2 timing with me, where does OBD1 come in?

yeah yeah, i forgot we were talking obd 1 for a minute. But reguardless wheny you turn the cap you're changing the contact point of the rotor and cap. Timing changed.
