Default Bad seal IHI R5HB pictures and inspection

Lots of oil smoke first time out with my TT setup. This weekend, I took all the turbo stuff off the car and got a chance to check in detail where all this oil smoke was coming from.
The driverside turbo was the worst for sure. That poor t-bird I got it off of was probably junked cause it smoked really bad. The car was in nice shape and I'll bet the motor was fine. Here are some shots of what I found. First the turbine side.

Compressor side was bad too.

The passenger side turbo seemed to be better. It only had traces of oil on the compressor side. I disassembled these two plus a third spare one. Took the wheels and shafts out and sent them to be balanced.
Here are a few more shots of the tear down of the drivers side turbo. Had to heat the turbine side to get that thing free and then one of the torx bolts stripped so I had to make it into a slot and chisle it in a circle.
Took the compressor side off first and then wound up putting it back on to protect the wheel when I took the turbine side off

The shaft is discolored but is smooth

This stuff looks like it will be pretty difficult to clean. Well hopefully they do the balancing and get the stuff back fast.

Twin R5HB's, do you make any boost at idle lol, what motor were these on?

Maybe you just have to much oil pressure and oil was seaping through the seals and smoking and there were no problems at all....?

Got any pics of them installed?

I have not run this car much since I got all the pieces together. I used the factory restrictors on the oil likes and plumbed with 1/4 inch od brake line. The returns are -10AN lines with a good 1 foot drop to the oil pan.
These turbos were off 87-88 t-bird turbo coupes. The seem to spool pretty fast. Some good hard blips gets you 3 psi.
Here is them before I took em back off
