Default B20 Turbo

Hi there,

I am South African and need to ask you guys a couple of questions concerning the B20\B16A Hybrid conversion.

The Honda hybrid scene is not big in S.A so the info availible here is min.

What I need to know is,

How strong are the B20 block for forced induction.
I have heard that the sleeves are weak and so is the crank.

Is this true and is there a way to correct the problem

Is there any other crank that can be used with the B20 motor that is a little bit more reliable.

There are several B20 blocks made by Honda. Which would you reccomend.

Final question, can a crank from a B18A fit a B16A block.
If so what mods have to be done to the block in order to make it fit.

Thanks alot

Jean

sounds like someone talking out of their *** :P

anyways... b20's are fine for boost... as long as you tune conservatively... if you run an fmu or maybe even an afc hack, you're asking for trouble... you gotta invest in either hondata or uberdata or something that is not a bandaid(search this site more for more info on those)... detonation (from bad tuning/running lean/too much advance) kills b20's, not just because it has a turbo.

ummmmmmmm, actually, b20's do have weak(er) sleeves and are not as good of a choice for forced induction as the b18. as far as cranks, the crank is fine, the only real difference between a b20 and b18, is the bore. as far as what kind, there are two to look for b20z and b20b

correct... however people mistake these "thinner sleeves" for weak in general, when they are not. I would call them more sensitive to abuse

You want either the B20B or B20Z. You do NOT want the B20A--which I believe from the older Preludes.

B20's are fine for force induction just make sure to tune it
