Listen noob, your not going to win this argument. The LS tranny with an LS/Vtec that revs to 8.5k is going to be so long you will be going 110mph in 3rd gear. That's going to make your car accelerate slow as ---- and it will just suck *** (I rode in Dave's car a long time ago with an LS tranny and in it and I could jack off like 3 times in between shifts lol). You want to keep the revs up as much as possible when your racing, thus why I say get a short geared tranny. Starting off the a B16 swap will just be easier, then if you really feel the need for more torqu you can just swap in a 1.8L block later.

If you're going to be making any real power, an LS tranny will work just fine. Yes, a b16 tranny will accelerate faster (no ----!!!!1111omg), but I'm a drag racing guy and don't like to shift into 5th going down the 1/4 mile. I think you spent too much time on H-T?

What do you call real power? 300? 400? 500? Dude it all depends on the size of your slicks, how high you rev, etc... For the majority of us an LS tranny will just be too long, especially if your using a big slick and you will be if your making a lot of power. You won't need to shift into 5th with a B16 tranny if you plan your setup right.

I think I hate the LS tranny so much because it's very similar to my gay D-series tranny, 3rd and 4th gear are long as ---- with my Y8, but I don't have any other options unless I make a custom tranny.

I like to think of real power is anything that can get your car into the low 11's. That could be 300, 400, whatever.

You're right, there are different ways to achieve the same goal. Smaller slicks with the ls or bigger slicks with the b16.

I'm just trying to say that for a "street" setup (drag radials, etc), I like the LS ratios better with boost. I've found that with a smaller turbo (which most people run here), you tend to make boost and spin the wheels a lot easier with a shorter gear ratio. I've had good luck with the LS ratios, but I guess that's just me. I'm an underdog kinda guy

Did you buy a Bseries yet?

If you spin wheels you should work on your traction (LSD, tires, suspension, staged boost controller, etc...) not get a shitty LS tranny.

No I haven't went b-series yet. I'm working on it.
