You may have misunderstood what I was saying. If you take a good chunk out of the crossmember to make the line a straight shot, cool. I thought you were saying to drill a hole in the crossmember and run the line through it. I don't think that would be a good idea. The chunk would work though.

uh, why not just get a 45deg fittin in between the flange and hose?

uhm, how about no drilling or hacking of the cross member and just clock the turbo towards the block. I did a SS *** chrome manifold on a customers car with no oil return problems.
