Default autochrome d16 equal length headers???

There is this company ssautochrome and they're selling headers on ebay. Looking closer it appears that they're actually OBX. They design looks decent but I seem to recall complaints about them cracking. Am I thinking about the same one?

Hrm Interesting. Where do they crack? If I build one I'll be using 321 stainless and it's damn expensive if I copy a design just to have it crack.

They break on the flange, and at the pipes coming off the head flange. The material is really weak, some of the later obx manifolds now have support braces and last somewhat better.

do you think it would help to seperate each of the exhaust ports? so that there is a small space between them that allows the manifold to expand outwards once it is heated up?

i have 2 points, first of all, there's only one of them, so it's a header, not headers. (pet peave)

secondly, from what i've seen in pictures of the ssautochrome manifolds is that they have sugaring on the back of the welds, which would cause them to leak and crack out very easily.

Do a search. They are in fact selling headers. More than one has cracked.

If there is sugar on the back of the welds then that would explain the cracking - they obviously don't know how to weld stainless pipe. That would certainly drive the per-unit cost down as sugar at the back means they're not back-gassing. Saves a lot of time and money - that argon gets expensive.
