some of the dodge guys were running S60 compressor wheels in some of their stage II or III turbos or somthin like that... Anyway i have a T3 60/63 and it boosts 9psi at 4250... not bad for the .63 exhaust housing

Well the 0.63 spool up is fairly quick too, provided you have at least 140-150 HP before boost. The wheel is exactly the same after all. Only the housing throat is slightly wider. If you can live with the 0.63 spool up, you are much happier camper: Less overheating and the possibility to make more power.

I have a 60 trim T3 .48/.60 on my d16z6 and I love it... don't be worrying about lag man!

Lag = Traction...

Plus, I can drive around out of boost if I want to get better gas milage... and it's easier on the engine if you aren't in boost 24/7.

IMO, the 60 trim T3 with the .48 hot side is the perfect turbo for the d16z6, and other similar engines...

I agree. T3 0.48/0.60 is great not only on the D16 but also on most cars with 100-140 HP before boost.

To further push the envelope, I found the way to overbore the t3 60 comp housing and backplate and slap in a T04B V trim wheel (which actually is 63 trim) . The result is even wilder than a super 60 because the wheel is much bigger. In fact, it will outflow the 0.48 a/r turbine. A 0.63 turbine would be much more appropriate with such huge comp....

inducer diameter

T3 60 trim: 1.83
T3 super 60: 1.90
T3 Blaast V trim : 2.18" !!!!

how did you do that...i know they make a t3 .48/.63 so did you take the internals from that one and put it in the .48/.60?

Does the bigger exhaust housing make it spool quicker since it has a larger area to release the gases? I'm putting a .48/.63 on my d16y8 and want to daily run 8psi and do up to 11psi at the track; however, I'm seeing the projected horsepower numbers and my engine is going to be screwed! I want like 200whp, but people say my D-series will hold closer to 230whp. I just don't want to blow an engine my very 1st boosted car on accident that's all. Any idea what my WHP numbers might be at 8psi and 11psi on my d16y8? Thanks guys!

Yeah. Let's avoid mixing up stuff here.

The T3 60 trim will commonly come with two different turbines: the 0.48 and the 0.63 a/r. Wheel is the same (generally stage 1) for both of course. The 0.63 housing simply has a larger throat. Therefore, more exhaust gases will be needed to spin that same wheel (that's why it lags more) and in turns, it will take more exhaust flow (HP) to make the wheel exceed it's max efficiency. That's why it can support more HP.

Compressor wise, if you overbore a T3 60 trim to use a T4 wheel in it, you have to machine the comp housing and backplate. The internals however, remain the same. Now the change here is on the wheel rather than the housing. The wheel having a larger overall diameter, it simply flows more air and produces more power.

for example, at 15 psi, here is the power produced by each comp wheel at it's max afficiency (74%):

60 trim : 250HP
super 60: 250HP (Yes, the super 60 performs almost the same as the 60 trim. Very minor differences)
V trim: 325 HP !!!

ok so first how do i do this to my turbo or where can i get it done and does it have any more lag or take longer to spool then the original turbo you started with?

Werd, I'd like to see how much you guys charge for this since I dont want to upgrade the read of my exhaust stuff...
