The original intent was to keep the throttle body plate from sticking or freezing shut in extreme cold climates. I wouldnt even worry about it...bypass it.

The way I set mine up, it's not bypassed and it makes NO difference. I used the 5/8 hoses that come out of the back of the head & block, just to get more flow....I paranoid like that! ;D

I bypassed mine when i did the skunk2 manifold swap on my b16, i just didnt like the thought of hot ass coolant going thru there, i mean the throttle body gets hot enough and i live in florida, so dont have to worry about freezing here, i think it does make a difference any type of cooling u can do for the intake charge helps...especially in turbo..hence the intercooler..but hey just do it, and see it is really easy..

it`s there for another reason also.
it heats up the cold idle valve and shuts it when the coolent warmed up = engine has warmed up.
there are whole bunch of ppl have this bouncing idle problem because of it. (it stuck half open even when the engine is hot)

I did it on my 93 civic coupe. I have a Y7/Y8 mini-me. I did it and go an idle surge. Went from 800-1200. Put the hoses back on and it went away. I never notice a diffeance. Hope that helps.
