ive heard of some running through the coolant hose off the head

What does that mean?

You want to run a line off the throttle body? Or no?

Re:anyone reroute their coolant line so it won't bypass the throttle body?

no i want to eliminate the coolant line running through the throttle body and just hook it up directly to the block. that way the throttle body should be at a cooler temp when engine is running, since hot radiator fluid won't be running through there.

Wow... I really don't know if that's possible.

I thought the water going through there was supposed to absorb some heat as it passes through, keeping your TB cooler. If you take it out... I'm really not sure what would happen.

I have it done on my f22....what would you like to know?

There is the write-up, although the pictures are down; let me know if you need any help ;D

if you noticed a difference and if it's worth doing.

nevermind, i see it won't make that much of a difference in the link. thanks anyways.

I would leave it on if it's a daily driver and it's cold where you live. If not, bypass it. I don't like the idea of hot water running through my throttle body.

I've taken it off all my cars. Some TB's don't even have the circuit so you don't have to worry about bypassing anything. ;)

My butt dyno says no BUT I don't like the idea of hot coolant running through my intake manifold & TB. I think on a higher output motor there might be some gains. I think overall with it done I notice a little more "pull" on the highway and less bogging of the engine under high heat.

IMO if you have the time (30-45 min) and tools to do it; why not ;) .

The original intent was to keep the throttle body plate from sticking or freezing shut in extreme cold climates. I wouldnt even worry about it...bypass it.

Re:anyone reroute their coolant line so it won't bypass the throttle body?

The way I set mine up, it's not bypassed and it makes NO difference. I used the 5/8 hoses that come out of the back of the head & block, just to get more flow....I paranoid like that! ;D

Re:anyone reroute their coolant line so it won't bypass the throttle body?

I bypassed mine when i did the skunk2 manifold swap on my b16, i just didnt like the thought of hot ass coolant going thru there, i mean the throttle body gets hot enough and i live in florida, so dont have to worry about freezing here, i think it does make a difference any type of cooling u can do for the intake charge helps...especially in turbo..hence the intercooler..but hey just do it, and see it is really easy..

did it on my 90 integra, no ill effects.

Re:anyone reroute their coolant line so it won't bypass the throttle body?

it`s there for another reason also.
it heats up the cold idle valve and shuts it when the coolent warmed up = engine has warmed up.
there are whole bunch of ppl have this bouncing idle problem because of it. (it stuck half open even when the engine is hot)

i didn't know this but i woasn't gonna do it anyways. not worth the trouble.

I did it on my 93 civic coupe. I have a Y7/Y8 mini-me. I did it and go an idle surge. Went from 800-1200. Put the hoses back on and it went away. I never notice a diffeance. Hope that helps.
